This is George. George lives in SW Atlanta. He collects cans by the roadside and hauls his load on this bicycle. Last night, I received an email from my friend Ken that simply said "we gotta get George a Mundo". To which I replied, "Who the hell is George?". To which Ken replied, "dude george the guy who hauls all the cans on his bike up and down murphy". One dollar for George was born.
The idea is this, if enough people donate one dollar for George we can set him up with a Yuba Mundo cargo hauling bike that's tricked out just for hauling cans. We are NOT a non-profit corporation. The filing costs would put us well on the way to a Mundo so we're doing this on the honor system. We will be incurring Paypal fees and perhaps a few unforseen expenses but, beyond that, every penny will go towards a badass Mundo for George and if anything is left it will go to some charitable use.
Please give to onedollarforgeorge.org

Is there any way to send more than one dollar? (since I didn't see any way to give more than a dollar, I sent some paypal money to the listed email account directly)

Thanks Matt, that's the simplest way to do it. If you have a paypal account you can send the money to dollar@onedollarforgeorge.org. Questions can be sent to that address or scott or ken @ the same domain.

Sent in my dollar - I'm unemployed, so I'll skip chocolate this week to make up for the donation. Would rather see George get his bike!

camelama: Thanks! You've got some good Karma working in your favor. I hope you get your chocolate anyway!

How far are you from your goal? Is there any way to track the financial progress!?!
Posted by: Ashley Marie | 07/16/2009 at 09:42 PM
Hi Ashley, we've just added the Can-o-Meter to keep peeps updated on the progress.
We're providing the Mundo at cost but because of Paypal fees and accessories we have a goal of raising $1000.00.

Awesome- I've blogged it, facebooked it, offered my clients a free 5x7 from their next sitting & went on to email Yuba & Aquaduct about designing a single bike out of their two bikes, which combined would REALLY help save the world- especially in post Katrina like situations. You can read about how your helping George helped get the ball rolling here: http://www.facebook.com/jessicanoelle?ref=name#/note.php?note_id=113708779491&ref=mf

Hi Jessica, Thanks for all of those things. That's a big help. Unfortunately the facebook link didn't work for me. FYI, George has a Cause on Facebook too. http://apps.facebook.com/causes/283748/33382550?m=6987e7df
I like the idea of Combining a Mundo with the Aquaduct. Wonder about weight issues with cargo AND water though.
