One Dollar For George

George

This is George. George lives in SW Atlanta. He collects cans by the roadside and hauls his load on this bicycle. Last night, I received an email from my friend Ken that simply said "we gotta get George a Mundo". To which I replied, "Who the hell is George?". To which Ken replied, "dude george the guy who hauls all the cans on his bike up and down murphy". One dollar for George was born.

The idea is this, if enough people donate one dollar for George we can set him up with a Yuba Mundo cargo hauling bike that's tricked out just for hauling cans. We are NOT a non-profit corporation. The filing costs would put us well on the way to a Mundo so we're doing this on the honor system. We will be incurring Paypal fees and perhaps a few unforseen expenses but, beyond that, every penny will go towards a badass Mundo for George and if anything is left it will go to some charitable use.

How Can I Donate More Than $1?

We know that no everyone has a PayPal Account and some people would like to give more than one dollar. How Many Cans Must George Collect to Earn One Dollar?

Did you know that it takes about 33 aluminum cans to make one pound of scrap aluminum? The going rate for aluminum at last check was 30¢ per pound. This means that George must collect a little over one hundred cans to earn one dollar. Or, one click of our "donate" button.

We're Verified! We actually DO exist! (according to PayPal)

Onedollarforgeorge.org is now Paypal verified! Why is this good news? Well, it means that we can finally collect our donations! Man of them were returned to donors while were were in the verification process. Those of you who got you dollars back, if you would kindly click our donation button again we would greatly appreciate it!

Did Your Donation Come Back?

Well, some of you are getting your donations returned because we are not a "Verified PayPal member". This due to the fact that we are still, still, waiting for bank info needed to connect the bank and Paypal! We hope to have this finalized by the end of this week. Status Update

We have no updates on George since our last post. All of the activity has been behind the scenes lately as we finalize the bank account and such. But we wanted to take a second let you one that this thing is happening and George will get his Mundo,

Thank you again to everyone who has donated so far! It's really been amazing how quickly this has spread! We're getting clicks from all over the web. People are submitting this site to their twitter feeds, their favorite web directories, their facebook pages. They're forwarding links to friends and posing links on their own blogs. Some are clicking several times others are sending in larger donations from Paypal. It's exciting to be part of this.

ondollareforgeorge update

Ken spoke with George yesterday. He let him know that we are working on a new bike for him and he's cool with it. He doesn't know what kind of bike it will be. This is going to be fantastic.
